WONDERFUL NEW WORKSHOPS

I am very excited to announce that the scrumptious new gallery, 'Studiofourseven' at the top of Redruth Fore Street - packed full of delicious new Fine Art, painting, prints, cards, quality handmade crafts, textiles, textile accessories, jewellery and furniture... I may have left something out, if I have Louise and Peter I apologise! - has a Workshop room alongside their Solo Exhibition Space.

From the week starting 20th September 2011 I will be running weekly Sewing Machine Workshops aimed at all levels and all abilities.

Come and make the most of some ME time while the kids are at school - with a group of other people just like you.

These will be fun, relaxed and safe places to mess around with textiles, fabric and thread. Come along and have a play.

'Help, My Sewing Machine's an Alien'

This will run on Tuesday mornings from 930-1230 - with a break for tea/coffee & essential cake intake.

This workshop is a gentle, supportive and fun space for those of you who have a machine but would like to build your confidence in managing its knobs, buttons, levers and all those different stitches.

We will explore the mysteries of threading, tension, feet, and bobbin mastery. I will guide you through a gentle exploration of the intimate bits of your machine and support you to build your confidence as we make a selection of gorgeous textile accessories for you, your home and your family.

In particular you will gain the ability to understand what it means when your machine goes 'clunk' and what to do next.

As you create you will learn how and when to put all those stitches on your machine to their best use. You will learn at your pace, until your little Alien becomes your B.F.F.

If you would just like to refresh some sewing skills you haven't used in a while, call or email and I will be happy to build a personalised session for you.

'Explore Freehand Machine Embroidery'

This group is for those of you who are confident with your machines, able to create your own textile treats and would love to try something a little more adventurous. Freehand Machine Embroidery is exhilarating, dramatic, luxurious and addictive!

Learn to Paint, Draw, Write quirky and original text or produce 3 dimensional Sculpture with your sewing machine. The great news is, you don't have to be able to draw. No artistic ability or training is necessary, but if you are a secret Kiki Smith, fantastic, come along and share.

You will learn to push the boundaries of what you thought you could do with your machine, stitching with paper, card, wire, plastic...in fact the list is endless.

The great thing about this technique is that your vision and passion will come through whatever you do and though you may learn to same skills as others, your creations will always be uniquely yours, like your handwriting.

This group will run on Wednesday mornings 930-1230 with tea/coffee & essential cake break.
